Tokyo

I went to Tokyo in the spring of last year on vacation. I've been to Japan few times before, but I never actually wandered the streets or seen the sights; this was my chance. All alone with a just camera, I found myself lost in the vast culture, trend setting fashion and rich history of Japan's capital city.

Tokyo is beautiful, especially during spring when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. Reminded me of Vancouver in some ways; walking down Burrard Street with cherry blossom petals floating and dancing through the air. However, the true beauty of Tokyo happens at night: the sky is filled with neon lights, performers emerge from the shadows, and the streets are alive again with music.

Traveling alone has its perks such as going wherever I want and having time to myself to reflect. However it felt a little lonely sometimes, which is ironic when I was in the most populated city in the world. It would've been nice to share these moments with a friend but traveling alone is a self-empowering experience which taught me a lot about myself.

I think Japan is a place everyone needs to visit a least once in their lifetime. It breaks my heart to see and hear the tragic events that took place in Japan few months ago but I know Japan is strong enough to rebuild themselves once again.
